Playa Solmar in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Playa Solmar in Cabo San Lucas, BS is perhaps one of the loveliest beaches in the area however it is not crowded like others. There are several reasons for this. For one, it is secluded and two, it is not safe to swim there because of the undercurrents. The beach though is a beauty and an incentive to just go for the sunbathing.
On the Pacific Ocean side of the Land's End area, Playa Solmar is quite long with pristine sandy beaches and white capped waves lapping on the beach edges. It stretches to the west at the base of Pedregal. The rocky area of Land's End is the reason why access is limited but if you don't mind working hard with a laborious climb over the rocks to get there, then it will be well worth it.
The easy route to Playa Solmar would be to stay at one of the three hotel resorts in the area as they would have direct access to this secluded beach. Just beware that there are no lifeguards on duty and swimming is strongly discouraged because of the undercurrents, riptides and more. However, as a relaxing place to sunbathe and catch some rays, Playa Solmar cannot be beat.
Be advised that the beach is federal property, meaning it is open to the public; you should abide by some common sense rules to keep the beach pristine. For instance, be sure to bring bags for your trash so that you leave no trace. In addition, driving along the beach is not permitted. All in all, if sunbathing and building sand castles is all you want to do, choose the Playa Solmar. Because of its seclusion and lack of safe swimming, it will seem almost like your own private beach.
