There are many things to see in Cabo San Lucas, many of which are man-made attractions that are sure to entertain your artistic and sensual cravings.  However, tourists cannot forget that much of Cabo San Lucas' beauty is found in the city's natural state.  This is a land that is very rich, from the crystal blue waters to the clean sandy beaches.  Though Cabo San Lucas has earned a reputation for its exciting tourist attractions, such as the Cabo Wabo Cantina, longtime visitors also remember the city's other claim to fame: the warm waters of Mexico, filled with wondrous aquatic life, that have made Cabo a worldwide favorite for centuries.

While you could spend hours just fishing away the time, don't miss the opportunity to see large and wonderful whales up close.  Every January through March, the Cabo area receives an influx of whale activity as these beautiful creatures make their trek from Alaska to the warmer waters of Mexico.  These are Gray whales, specifically, and many of these whales are making the long journey in order to find a place to give birth to their babies.  Imagine seeing whales in their natural habitat in a relaxed state as you tour the area safely and in warm temperatures.  Now that's a Cabo San Lucas attraction just as exciting as any cantina!

What can you expect from whale watching in San Lucas?  You will be watching from watercrafts, anything from kayaks to motorized rafts, sail boats or large fishing boats.  Depending on the tour, you may be joined by hundreds of other people or just a few.  The crafts may move up to 50 miles per hour, as whales do move quickly.  How large are these creatures?  Depending on what whales you can see, anything from Gray whales to Humpback whales, Sperm whales, Orcas, Dolphins or Might Blue whales, these creatures can range from 45-100 feet and weight over one and a half tons.  How big is the biggest whale?  Let's just say that your child could crawl through the arteries of an adult great whale.

There is no other way to see whales up close in Cabo San Lucas and it is a memorable, almost spiritual experience to see such natural power and beauty from a close but safe distance.  Whale watching trips usually last about two hours and you are encouraged to bring sun block, water-proof, cameras and windbreaker jackets.  (Life jackets are provided as a precaution)

Whale watching is big business in Cabo and many whale watching tours will guarantee you an up close whale-watching experience.  Other whale watching tours are packaged together with hotel stays and other local entertainment.  The only thing to remember about whale watching is that part of the experience is the whale waiting.  You will be waiting for a while and patience is a virtue.  Think of whale watching as fishing on a magnified scale.  The only difference is this is one big fish you don't want to try and catch!  Experience the natural joys of Cabo San Lucas with whale-watching expeditions.
