Day 1: Depart from Home - Overnight Flight
Your journey to Antarctica begins with an overnight flight* to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Day 2: Buenos Aires, Argentina
Enjoy an orientation before heading out to see the attractions in Buenos Aires.
Day 3: Buenos Aires - Ushuaia - Embarkation
From the thriving metropolis of Buenos Aires, fly* to Ushuaia, the world’s farthest south incorporated city on the Patagonian peninsula. After a tour of the city, board the MS Fram en route to Antarctica.
Day 4: The Drake Passage
Your cruise descends southward into the Drake Passage where you may encounter whales and other marine wildlife.
Day 5: The Drake Passage - Arrive Antarctica
You arrive in Antarctica, a vast continent with millions of square miles of untamed white wilderness.
Day 6: Antarctica
Today begins your first full day of discovering Antarctica first hand. The gorgeous Kodak Gap, where still water meander between stark cliffs, offers photo opportunities and a chance to see humpback and killer whales as well as elephant seals. Eventually you will arrive upon Half Moon Island, a nesting site for penguins, gulls and the Antarctic tern.
Day 7: Antarctica
Today will take you on zodiac boats to Deception Island and Whalers Bay. Geothermal features warm Whalers Bay, and Deception Island is an active volcanic caldera. You will also pay a visit to the Almirante Brown Research Station, and have a chance to view nesting colonies of gentoo and chinstrap penguins.
Day 8: Antarctica
Today you will visit the wildlife rich Neko Harbor, where elephant seals are common and a lively gentoo penguin colony is at home.
Day 9: Antarctica
Today’s highlight is a visit to Port Lockroy via zodiac boat. This was once home of a British base, but now is inhabited only by a large colony of gentoo penguins and blue-eyed cormorants.
Day 10: Antarctica - Drake Passage
You begin your return across the Drake Passage, again with a good chance of observing whales in the water.
Day 11: Drake Passage - Ushuaia, Argentina - Disembark Ship - Buenos Aires
You can enjoy free time in Ushuaia or take an optional excursion to Tierra del Fuego National Park to observe wildlife.
Day 12: Buenos Aires
Check out the many attractions in Buenos Aires or depart the big city for an optional foray into the Pampas.
Day 13: Buenos Aires - Tour Ends
Depart Buenos Aires and return home with many fond memories of your journey on the “White Continent”.
