As one of the most popular and unique theme parks in the United States, it's hard to believe that Silver Dollar City began as just a cave in little old Branson, Missouri. However, thanks to the popularity of the Shepard of the Hills, that "little cave" quickly became a popular tourist attraction.

Soon, the remains of an abandoned 1800's town were brought back up like a phoenix from the ashes to, originally, give weary visitors a chance to sit or shop a little while waiting for entrance to the cave.

However, as cars replaced horse and buggies, what is now Highway 76 was constructed to give travelers easier access to the park and it soon boomed into the wonder it is today. Now, while guests can still see Marvel Cave, the main attraction is the park surrounding it, which recreates life in an 1880's Missouri mining town.
