A tour 500 feet down into the deepest cave in the state will be a marvel to see. This enormous cave is filled with the mystery of time's changing presence. First discovered by the Osage Indians in 1500, the cave has daily tours as an easy addition to your visit to Silver Dollar City, for no extra fee. Expect to climb over 600 stairs and to be on your feet for about an hour.
Known for its creepy noises from the depths of the earth, the cave was opened as a tourist attraction by a Canadian entrepreneur, William Henry Lynch in 1894. The entrance to the park was built around the entrance to the cave. Once thought to contain marble and other treasures such as the fountain of youth, the name was changed to Marble Cave. After more exploration and study, it was found that the cave was merely limestone but still marvelous. Take a tour to Missouri's ancient past in Marvel Cave.
