As a courtesy to Arts-Fest guests, this year they've added a few new components - free trolley rides, People's Choice Award, Tent Theater, and Coffeehouse Stage. The brightly colored Fisk trolleys will run continuously from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, noon-5 p.m. Sunday with service to Downtown and Jordan Valley Park. You'll see art in wood, glass, clay, printmaking, paper, jewelry, photography, metal, painting, drawing, fiber, and mixed media. In late April, area amateur filmmakers participated in a competition; the Springfield and the Ozarks (SATO) 48-hour Film Challenge. Over just two days teams wrote, shot, produced and edited a five-minute short film from a surprise "Inspiration Package." Be one of the first people to see the outcomes at Arts-Fest.
For the young budding artists, there is a free children's hands-on area called Art-Town Downtown. This area will have foam fun, a Saturday Night Fever disco ball station, a community "Wall of Fame" piece and more. There's even something for the family dog, the Arf-Fest dog parade. There will be awards for the animals and their owners in such categories like, best dressed movie star, owner-dog look alike, biggest dog, smallest dog and "beauty in the rough." Arts-Fest admission is required for entry in the parade, along with registration and current shot record for your dog.
