New England
From the sparkling coast and mountain regions of New England to the metropolis setting of Boston, Grand New England provides an encompassing look into this cherished region of the United States through nine days of sightseeing and exploration. Day 1 - Just as soon as you arrive into Boston you'll be greeted by your tour director for an informal meet and greet and to acquire your tour information packet. You'll then have time to get settled at your hotel and prepare for the coming journey. Day 2 - You'll begin your first full day in Boston by meeting with the tour director for breakfast. From there, it will be off to explore both the past and present of Beantown as you are taking to notable sites including the Old North Church and John Hancock Tower. After the tour, you'll have free time before joining the official Welcome Dinner with the rest of your party. Day 3 - Day three will see you leaving the big city and traveling along the North Shore of Massachusetts and southern coast of Maine. Along the tour, you'll visit Salem, MA; the fishing port of Gloucester; the famed Fishermen's Memorial statue; Rockport, MA; and Kennebunkport, ME before finally settling down for the night. Day 4 - Day four will take you from the coastal setting of New England to New Hampshire's White Mountains. Along the way you'll visit the Portland Head Light for one last, iconic look at the New England coast. From the Portland Head Light, you'll travel the Kancamagus Scenic Byway, which cuts through the Kancamagus National Forest, before arriving at Cannon Mountain and journeying to the top by way of aerial tram. Finally, you'll enjoy dinner and share tales of the journey thus far with your party. Day 5 - You'll continue to experience the mountain settings of New England on day five as you pass Winnipesaukee lake and Squam lake on your way to the Green Mountains of Vermont. You'll have the opportunity to take in amazing views of Quechee Gorge during your time in the Green Mountains, and will eventually travel to the quaint town of Woodstock, VT. Day 6 - Day six will see you continuing your exploration of Vermont. First, you'll stop in Manchester Village, where you'll have the opportunity to browse and shop at the various designer outlets that the area is noted for. Next, you'll head south to Bershire Hills and visit the charming setting of Hancock Shaker Village. Day 7 - At this point in your travels you'll take to Newport, Rhode Island and explore the sailing culture and wealth that the area is known for. In fact, you'll actually have the opportunity to tour one of the area's 'summer cottages,' which are better described as stately mansions than cottages. Day 8 - Day eight will bring you to the natural beauty of Cape Cod. During the day you'll even have the opportunity to visit the popular island destination of Martha's Vineyard and be treated to a succulent lobster dinner. Day 9 - On the last day of the journey, you'll head back towards Boston; however, before ending the adventure you'll stop by Cape Cod's oldest town, Sandwich, and even journey back into the 17 the century at Plimoth Plantation. |
