Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy's childhood home, The Breakers, will amaze you with its prestige and grace, as it is considered to be one of the most extravagant homes in Newport.
Originally built as a summer cottage for Cornelius Vanderbilt II, this great mansion features 70 rooms on 13 acres overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Now considered a National Historic Landmark, it was constructed between 1893 and 1895 and cost over 7 million dollars to build. The entrance at Ochre Point Avenue features sculpted iron gates and 30-foot high walkway that are part of a twelve-foot-high limestone and iron fence that surrounds the property on all side except for the side facing the ocean.
