Puddle Dock was a neighborhood full of rundown and dilapidated homes by the Piscataqua River in the 1950s. These homes were all designated to be demolished. Any home that was considered as "substandard" was supposed to be torn down. The local citizens of the town got together and set up an organization to save the neighborhood and the homes that sat there. This resulted in them setting up a historic museum, the Strawberry Banks Museum. The museum, which was set up on 9 ½ acres consists of nine finely decorated homes from the 1600s and forward, displaying all types of architectural and craftsmen's designs.
You will enjoy seeing Prescott Park, which is located across from the museum. Here you will find some of the most beautiful flower gardens you've ever seen in the largest variety as well. They bloom continuously in the summer time. Every July and August they put on the Prescott Park Arts Festival, which is a combination of dozens of theatrical and musical performances.
Other attractions you'll see in Puddle Dock are the Nubble Lighthouse, which was created in 1879 and stands 88 feet about sea level; Redhook Brewing Company and the U.S.S. Albacore Museum and Park.
