USS CONSTITUTION's Birthday in the Charlestown Navy Yard, Boston, MA.

The USS Constitution was named by George Washington, after the American Constitution, and launched in 1797. Also referred to as "Old Ironsides" after the War of 1812, the USS Constitution is one of the oldest navy vessels still intact. Today, however, it serves as a naval museum which is open year-round to the public for tours and special events. Among these, and perhaps the most important, is the celebration of the ship's birthday.
The ship's birthday is considered the same as her launch date, which was October 21st, but celebrations were in July (1997) for the ship's 200th birthday, in order that the USS Constitution could sail again. The event is free and begins late in the morning, running until about 3pm. Expect live theatre and music, as well as interactive activities and a historical overview. Reservations may be necessary for large groups, as occupancy is limited, but smaller parties should have no problem.
