Art in the Garden: Florentine Landscape Painting at Hawthorne House near Boston, MA

Art meets history at The House of the Seven Gables' Art in the Garden workshop series in Salem.

Explore artistic creativity and get inspired by America's literary past during this hands-on art series, held in the seaside gardens of the Salem landmark. Local artists help participants create their own masterpieces, using a variety of mediums, including oils, watercolors, and acrylics. Past workshops have explored Florentine Landscape Painting, and inspired creativity in the next generation with Parent and Child Workshops.

Go beyond art to explore the mysteries of the 17^th century wooden mansion, the oldest still existing in New England, with its extensive museum, works of art, rare book library and granite sea wall from the 1700's. Inspiring early American author Nathaniel Hawthorne to write his famous novel of the same name, The House of the Seven Gables is recognized by the National Registry of Historic Places as its own district.
