The city of Boston doesn't have the nickname "The Walking City" for nothing. It's been widely accepted as the best way to see the Colonial and historic sites of the old town and the newer modern sites of the parts of Boston that are considered some of the more modern places in America.
Where ever you go in Boston, you'll be sure to find a walking tour not too far away and most come with a knowledgeable guide that will be only too glad to tell you about the great things you'll be seeing.

These walking tours are the heart and soul of the tourist industry in Boston and they help you out by taking away the need to rent an expensive car or sit on a bus where the schedule is up to some one else. One of the best of these walking tours involves Boston's rich history and is called the Salem Heritage Trail Walking Tour.

This unique walking tour is guided by members of the area historical society who have researched the time and come up with people to represent the characters from those Colonial days. You'll be escorted by guides on the Salem Heritage Trial Walking Tour who will make you believe that you're actually back in time!

The founding of Salem is explored on the excursion as well as the Salem Witch Hunts of 1692. One of the best advantages to this particular walking tour is that the day is educational as well as fun. It appeals to everyone in the family. Walkers should be sure to bring along their cameras to get pictures of the many places of interest you'll see along the way.

Another more contemporary walking tour that nevertheless is still as exciting and fulfilling is the Waterfront PhotoWalks Tour. Boston is well known for its waterfront and while there are many cruises offered to see the sites from a boat, this is a great way to get a little closer to the attractions.

One of the sites you'll see on the Waterfront PhotoWalks Tour is the historic Boston harbor that once was one of the busiest in the nation boasting dozens of docks and wharfs. On the Waterfront PhotoWalks Tour, you'll be treated to a few insiders secrets as well. Your guide will give you a few tips on taking a great picture by the water and even let you know where John Hancock kept his money.

The Waterfront PhotoWalk Tour is presented with historical commentary and the price is quite reasonable at $25 dollars for adults. Keep in mind the tour is a walking excursion and it's outside, so the proper glasses, sunscreen, and shoes should be considered. All those interested in going are directed to meet outside the front steps of the Old State House Gift Shop and the tour includes a complimentary pamphlet.

Generally, the Waterfront PhotoWalk Tour takes about two hours and walkers all enjoy the views along Boston Harbor.
