Description

This historic sightseeing cruise will lead you through the inner harbor to many important sites, including that of Griffin’s Wharf, which was the most probable location of the Boston Tea Party December 16, 1773! Sail around to catch glimpses of where the clipper ships are built, the USS Constitution, the Federal Courthouse Building, Boston’s working port, extravagant waterfront living, and the Logan International Airport! Take a look at many of the area's islands, including Castle Island, Spectacle Island, and Long Island, all of which are part of the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area. Also, catch a glimpse of the oldest lighthouse in America, the Boston Light! The original lighthouse on the site was built in 1716, and the lighthouse now currently at the location was built there in 1783 and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964.

This fun and informative 90-minute tour will take you from hero tales of the Revolutionary War to the local legends of the sea, which will entertain and enthrall you! Learn about the cleanup projects that transformed the polluted water into one of the cleanest harbors in the country. In fact, the water was so polluted that The Standells, a garage rock band in the 1960s, released a song called “Dirty Water” about the sorry state of the Charles River. Since the song’s release, the water quality of the Harbor and the Charles River has significantly improved from one of the filthiest in the nation to one of the cleanest, completely safe for fishing and swimming!

Boston Harbor Sunset Cruise

The sight of the beautiful setting sun adds a new dimension to this full narrated 90-minute sightseeing tour of Boston Harbor! You will be introduced to all the history, sights, and lore that the inner and outer harbors have to offer, and you will be able to witness the USS Constitution’s traditional sunset ritual as she fires her cannon and lowers her flag ceremoniously signaling the day’s end! This cruise follows the same route as the daily Historic Sightseeing Cruise.

Charles River & Locks Cruise

This narrated 90-minute tour takes you around Boston’s Inner Harbor and up the Charles River! You will pass by the USS Constitution, Bunker Hill Monument, and Old North Church before proceeding through the Charles River Locks. Sail along the river and enjoy spectacular views of the Boston and Cambridge skylines! There are many points of interest along the Charles River for you to observe, including the world’s widest cable-stayed bridge, Esplanade Park, M.I.T., Beacon Hill, and Back Bay!
