The Beijing Botanical Garden in Beijing, China is a pretty piece of nature located just outside the city. The garden is located on Wo Fo Si Road between Xiangshan Park and Jade Spring Mountain. There is an admission fee and parking fee. The Beijing Botanical Garden is open from 8am to 6pm. The Beijing Botanical Garden may not be the largest you have ever seen with just over 3,000 species of plants, but the special feature is the rare plants that can be found in the garden. One major highlight to see when visiting is the hothouse exhibition. This exhibition features 13 rooms each featuring a specialty of plant life.
The first room of the hothouse exhibition is evergreens and palms. The second room features tropical aquatic plants. The third room is full of commercial plants highlighting the breeding and propagation of the plants. Beyond the individual rooms you will find medicinal plants, aromatic plants and succulents among the other rooms in the exhibit. There are unique orchid displays featuring over 300 different species. Other areas in the garden are the national plant specimen hall with 11,000 square feet of floor space. The Peony garden is another great highlight of the garden with three sections dedicated to peonies. As mentioned, the rare species on display in the garden are another must see. Some rare species include the met sequoia, the pitcher plant, the golden butterfly orchid and the 'botree'. The Beijing Botanical Garden is an amazing display of plant life in various settings that not only allow you to view the plants but learn about them and really appreciate them.
