Located twenty minutes from Banff, Sunshine Village is a popular and novice-friendly ski resort in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada.
Built in 1928 by the Canadian Pacific Railway, this location was at first intended as a resting point for trekkers. Soon however, ski guides were hired and within twenty years, the first rope tow was built. Thus was the beginning of this scenic and enjoyable resort.
amenities include transportation throughout the resort, ski lifts, the and the Sunshine Inn. The terrain ranges from novice to expert, but all are kept safe- access to several of their runs are closed off by an Avalanche Control Gate that is kept locked unless it detects an avalanche transceiver on each passing skier.
Because of it's safety and convenience, Sunshine Village is a smoothly running, successful resort. However, because of it's nearby terrain, this location is not road accessible during winter months.
