Tucked away in the Clock Tower Mall on Banff Avenue is Pad Thai... an unassuming restaurant that serves delicious Thai cuisine.
The concise menu offers a selection of appetizers, soups and entrees, carefully cooked to assume a delicious blend of flavors that is uniquely Thai. A typical meal here would begin with Thai Dumplings, or Saw Moing as they are called, or the famous Thai spring rolls. Light and incredibly non-greasy, they pave the way for the spectacular meal to follow. You can take your pick from the piquant flavors of the Hot and Spicy Tom Yum or choose a more subtle Tom Gai, which is a coconut milk based soup infused with chicken. A must try at Pad Thai is their Noodle Salad. The glass noodles, tossed in spicy dressing and sprinkled with chicken or shrimp, as you prefer, are sure to have you coming back for more. Entrees include the hearty Thai Style Stew or the Mussaman Curry, which is a wholesome beef or chicken stew with roasted onions, potatoes and peanuts. You can also try the Stir Fry in peanut sauce which tosses together chicken, beef or tofu with a variety of seasonal veggies.
For desert, you can either opt for a scoop of ice cream or, if you're the more adventurous kind, try the Deep Fried Banana or Goi Tod or even sample some of the Kao Nia Mamoing, which is a mélange of mango slivers with sticky rice.
Pad Thai is also claimed to be one of the cheapest restaurants in Banff. A meal here will cost you, not more than, $8 to $10 per person. Portions are generous and a meal at Pad Thai ensures that you never leave the restaurant unsatisfied. You can drop by at any time between 11.30 am and 9 pm from Monday through Saturday.
