The Balkan Restaurant in Banff, Alberta, Canada is the result of the hard work of a group of Greek families that found themselves in the middle of a cold, unfamiliar location and wanted to make it something much more like their home country of Greece. In order to create the warm, upbeat experience they opened the restaurant and shared their skills and recipes to create one of the most unique experiences in Banff today. Located on Banff Avenue since 1982, it is a well loved, fun atmosphere that guests of all ages can enjoy.
The Balkan restaurant provides a range of quality, home style Greek cooking. A number of recipes are passed down over time from family to family. Authentic dishes that appeal to those with a Greek heritage or someone looking for something new are what are found here. Some recipes offered have a Mediterranean feel that can not be duplicated elsewhere.
Not only do they provide top rated foods, but the Balkan Restaurant also provides entertainment in several ways. For example, they often host a Greek Night once or twice per week in which guests are able to smash plates on the floor, dance and even watch belly dancing. Plenty of ouzo is there, too! Reservations are not necessary but are strongly urged during tourism season and on Fridays and Saturdays. Guests should call ahead for large parties as well.
