Named for the arts patron who eventually became the president of the Baltimore Symphony, the 2,400-seat Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall is the home of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Unique in design, the venue has no 90-degree angles or flat walls and depends upon an interior series of convex curves for its stellar acoustics.
In addition, every seat in the house has an unobstructed view of the stage. Since its opening in 1992, the Meyerhoff has offered visitors a full schedule of orchestras from around the world, accomplished vocalists, and even rock concerts. Visitors are also welcome at the numerous special events offered throughout the year, including the annual Opening Gala, the Martin Luther King Jr. tribute, and the SummerFest which features performances of easy listening, patriotic, Broadway, and songbook music.
