Downtown Annapolis, near Baltimore, MD is a very busy place with lots of activities, shops and restaurants. These are located in an active historic district near the waterfront. The brick-lined streets give way to buildings that are from the original 17th to 19th century architectural design. It's not unusual to see Colonial buildings that are over 200 years old. Annapolis has a thriving boat business. You'd have no trouble filling a day with activities and fun just strolling the downtown harbor area, checking out the shops and eating in between. When the day is done, you'll find plenty of nighttime activities as well.
You'll have no lack of good eating places in the downtown area. Some of the best restaurants are Ruth Chris's Steak House, The Chart House, Lewnes Steak House (a favorite of the locals) and O'Leary's, which serves some of
the best local seafood.
If sightseeing is your idea of fun, you can check out the Governor's mansion or take a tour of The Naval Academy. You'll find great shopping intermingled with your sightseeing. Parking is difficult during the daytime hours, so you may be better off walking. You'll see more this way, too. Most of the downtown businesses have tourist maps showing all that Annapolis has to offer. Indianapolis is known as one of the top ten best cities to visit and you'll see why when you spend even just one day there.
