Named for the white-pillared Bolton Estate built after the Revolutionary War by a local merchant, Bolton Hill is a peaceful urban oasis of tree-lined streets, little parks, and fountains. Visitors can enjoy a tranquil stroll, take in an art film at the Charles Theater, visit a local gallery, and grab a bite to eat at one of the neighborhood bistros.
Several annual events bring residents and visitors out in full force on the Hill. The Fall Festival features food, crafts, music, and art, while the Bolton Hill Band Concert in Fitzgerald Park offers free music by the Baltimore City Band. Bolton Hill is also the home of Artscape, the marvelous three-day summer celebration of the arts, featuring exhibits, games, food, and performances.
