The Baltimore Maritime Museum is comprised of the USS Torsk, the USCGC Taney, the Lightship 116 Chesapeake, and the Seven Foot Knoll Lighthouse, all four of which are now registered as National Historic Landmarks. The highlights are the USS Torsk and the USCGC Taney, both of which were wartime vessels.
The Torsk submarine made over 10,600 dives, including patrols off Japan during WWII and tours of duty during the Cuban Blockade and the 1960 Lebanon crisis, while the Taney, known as the Queen of the Pacific, was active in the defense of Pearl Harbor and is the only surviving warship from that attack.
The Chesapeake was used as a domestic patrol vessel during WWII. Visitors can tour the vessels and the 1859 lighthouse. Several special exhibits of historic photographs that trace Baltimore's maritime history are on display in the Museum and on the Lightship 116 Chesapeake.
