Born in 1895 in a Baltimore rowhouse, George Herman "Babe" Ruth became one of the greatest baseball players of all time. The Babe Ruth Birthplace & Museum, a must-see for any visitor, was established in 1974 to honor this national treasure. Now just a stone's throw from the home of the Oriole's, the team that signed Ruth to his first professional contract, Ruth's birthplace has been restored and expanded to become the official museum of the Oriole's.
Visitors can stroll through the milestones in Ruth's life through exhibits including History of the Birthplace, Babe's Childhood, Babe's Rookie Year, Curse of the Bambino, Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, 500 Home Run Club, Life and Times in Baltimore, and Babe Ruth's Funeral. Among the priceless objects in the collection are a
rare baseball bat given to Ruth by Shoeless Joe Jackson in 1915 and a set of 1914 Baltimore Orioles baseball cards.
