The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum: Ellicott City Station provides visitors with the unique opportunity to hear living historians tell the story of the development of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad and the impact it had on Ellicott City. The oldest railroad station in America, the Museum contains the original 1830 Main Depot building and freight house, and a replica of the first horse-drawn passenger rail car.
A fun exhibit is the 40-foot model train layout that shows the original thirteen miles of the station's commercial train route to Baltimore. Visitors are free to wander the Museum on their own or join the Journey from Road to Rails, an informative tour that outlines the impact of industrialization on Ellicott City.
