What to Expect From Baltimore WeatherIf you're planning a trip to Baltimore, planning is the key to having a great trip. There are many things to take into consideration when visiting the city, but the weather should definitely be one of your main concerns. If you have never visited an East Coast city, the difference in temperature and humidity may surprise you. In order for you to have the best trip possible, here are a few helpful travel tips to get you on your way. Baltimore lies in a "humid subtropical zone," by classification. For visitors, this means that you can expect humidity year round. During the summer, the city is warm; though not so hot as many southern cities. The humidity can exacerbate this condition, so if you visit the city in the summer months, make sure that you wear comfortable clothing. Light colored clothing, made of 100% cotton is recommended. In addition, you should be prepared for moist winter weather. While the area does not get as cold as many northern or inland cities, the presence of humidity can make it seem much colder than it actually is; plan accordingly. Spring in Baltimore is a beautiful season. There are blooming flowers and budding trees throughout the city and the air has an amazing freshness. That said, you can expect thunderstorms during spring, especially late spring. These can come at any time of day, though afternoon and evening are the most frequent hours. Temperatures are moderate, usually somewhere between 60 degrees and 75 degrees for the daily high temperature. The evenings can be cool, so make sure to bring at least a sweater or jacket for evening outings. Summer in the city can be downright hot. The humidity can considerably amplify this. Make sure you bring the appropriate attire, as mentioned above. It is also very important to stay hydrated in the heat; water is your best option. Daytime highs in the summer average in the mid 90's. July is the hottest month of the year in this city, so if you don't like the heat, plan accordingly. Fall is a beautiful time to see Baltimore. The area blazes with color as the leaves change and fall from the trees and the air is crisp and clean. Fall temperatures are much like spring, though as the season approaches its end it becomes decidedly cold. Average daytime highs for fall are around 60 degrees and the nights can be very cool. The city of Baltimore offers a vast amount of history and other recreational and educational opportunities. Making sure that you are prepared for the eventualities of the weather will let you get the most out of your trip. |
