When visiting Baltimore, the Inner Harbor is an absolute must see attraction. The Inner Harbor is a popular landmark as well as a fully functioning seaport. Visitors will find there are a number of interesting ways in which they can explore the Inner Harbor including cruises aboard the Ducks of Baltimore as well as romantic Moonlight Cruises. The Inner Harbor of Baltimore is one of the most popular parts of the city and certainly one of the most photographed as well. Since the early 18th century, it has served as one of the largest seaports in the country. As of the 1970s, the Inner Harbor has become one of the most important cultural centers of the city. Baltimore's Inner Harbor as well as the surrounding area offer a wide array of cultural experiences, fine dining and exciting nightlife. In fact, the area is so popular that it is frequently visited by visitors as well as locals. Just a few of the sights you will encounter in the Inner Harbor include the Observation Level of the World Trade Center, where you can take in the sweeping panoramic views of the city skyline. Whether you want to take a sightseeing tour of the street level attractions or cruise through the harbor to enjoy the skyline at night, you will find plenty to enjoy in the Inner Harbor. Moonlight Cruises There is truly no better way to see the spectacular lights of Baltimore at night than from a late night Moonlight Cruise through the Baltimore Harbor. A delicious buffet of hors d'oeuvres is provided for guests to snack upon as they dance the night away to the wonderful music provided on board. Of course, if you are looking for something a bit more quiet and private, the Moonlight Cruise is also a great way to share the evening with that certain special someone. Moonlight Cruises depart on Fridays and Saturdays at 11:30 pm. Guests must be at least 21 years of age in order to sail as a cash bar is available on board. Guests are encouraged to follow dress attire standards. For a truly unique sightseeing experience, the Ducks of Baltimore are a great choice. Guests are taken on a tour of both the streets and the waterways of Baltimore aboard the Ducks, a type of military transportation that was originally using during World War II. The vehicles are officially referred to as DUKW. Today they are more apt to be seen in the tourist industry rather than war action; however, they provide a wonderful way to see the best of Baltimore. Just a few of the sights you will see along the way include The Washington Monument, Edgar Allan Poe's graveyard, Fell's Point and Little Italy. After touring these famous sites on land you will then be taken through the Inner Harbor where you can enjoy even more adventure. If you are trying to find a tour that is good for the whole family, this is it. |
