Somers Point on Great Egg Harbor Bay near Atlantic City, New Jersey was originally called Somerset Plantation when it was settled in the late 17th century. This quaint little bayside community only consists of four square miles and is situated on Great Egg Harbor Bay, named for all of the bird eggs found there by early explorers.
A variety of water activities are available to visitors including boating, fishing, and water skiing. Kennedy Park overlooks the bay, there are public boat ramps, boat rentals, docks, excursions along the coast, and swimming off of the protected beach.
