Tucked away on Arctic Avenue in Atlantic City, Little Saigon is a quaint little restaurant that serves a delectable array of Chinese and Vietnamese Cuisine.
Even if you've never tried Vietnamese food before, you're bound to relish the light, flavorful dishes that Little Saigon offers. The restaurant takes care to only use the freshest of ingredients to prepare a sumptuous spread of appetizers and entrees. You can start with Gui Cuon, which is a light summer roll, progress to entrees like Com dish which is a succulent entrée made of pork chops and eggs over rice and top it up with some Vietnamese ham served on a rice flakes. The specialties include broken rice dishes, curried bean curd and the grape leaf appetizer comes highly recommended.
Almost similar to Chinese fare, Vietnamese food is much lighter and does not include the heavy sweet sauces that have now come to signify Chinese cuisine. The spring rolls are soft and moist and not fried like you would find them at a Chinese eatery. The restaurant also includes a comprehensive all-vegetarian menu. The food is specially crafted to suit the American Palette and the piquant gradient of the food is toned down. You can also opt for the lunch special combination which includes a serving of Broiled Beef with rice vermicelli, two spring rolls, salad and a choice of homemade iced tea or lemonade, all at a price of $7.95.
The restaurant does not own a liquor permit, so it is recommended you carry your own bottle of wine or beer. You can even sip on the refreshing iced Vietnamese coffee in between courses. The Little Saigon Restaurant was voted the "Best Vegetarian Restaurant" for the year of 2000 by the Atlantic City Magazine.
The service is polite, friendly and personable and you will often find the owner hovering about your table to make sure your meal is just fine. The restaurant can seat a maximum of 40 patrons at a time, so if you're planning to stop by on a weekend, it is advisable you book your table well in advance. A meal here will cost you between $11 and $20.
Little Saigon is open from 11 am to 10 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 12 pm to 10 pm on Saturdays and 12 pm to 9 pm on Sundays.
