If you're looking for soul food prepared with all the care and warmth that only home-cooking can warrant, then Corbin is right up your alley. Run by Ed Corbin who is also the head chef here, the restaurant is the only one of its kind in Atlantic City.
The comprehensive menu includes favorites like the delicious Sweet potato pie, crisp Southern Greens, luscious Fried Whiting and scrumptious Chicken and Ribs. The variety and flavor of the food warrants that people of all races and ethnic origins find Corbin's a fine place to eat at. The signature dish, Fried Chicken is cooked just the way Ed Corbin's mother made it... browned to perfection on a blackened cast iron skillet. Regulars swear by the Lima Bean Soup which has lima beans, carrots and little chunks of bacon swimming around in an irresistible broth. In view of the religious beliefs and any health concerns the patrons may have, Corbin's season their greens with smoked turkey instead of the more artery-clogging ham.
The immense popularity the restaurant enjoys can also be partially attributed to the fact that it is very affordable. Most entrée are priced between $12 and $20 and the portions are generous. Service can tend to be slow, but given the fact that the food is home-cooked, there really isn't too much that can be done about it. The ambience is cozy and family-oriented. The restaurant does not hold a liquor permit. Open from 10 am to 10 pm from Tuesday through Thursday and 8 am to 8 pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, the Corbin's Soul Food restaurant makes for a great place to go for a nourishing dinner, after a night of gambling at the neighboring casinos.
The weekend crowds that flock to the restaurant make it advisable to make reservations before you visit. For further information, you can call the Corbin's Soul Food Restaurant at 609-348-8200.
