Sweetwater Brewing Company in Atlanta, GA
The Sweetwater Brewing Company is the brainchild of two bored university students who decided they preferred beer to reading books and although the Brewery only produced their first public brew in February 1997 they have already won the award of National Small Brewery of the Year. Recently the brewery has opened its doors to a new tasting room and you can now take a guided tour around the facility before trying the beers of your choice.
The tours and tastings are run from Wednesday to Friday in the afternoons and although the actual tour only takes around 20 minutes you are free to spend the entire afternoon at the facility if you wish. The brewery produces 5 original beers and also a couple of seasonal beers, all of which you can taste as many times as you want. On summer days you are encouraged to take a deck chair and a picnic and sit out on the patio area while enjoying your beer while on colder days you can sit in the Sweetwater Lounge and watch either of the two 50 inch flat screen TVs. The tours offer a great opportunity for making new friends however you can also take your own friends if you prefer and there is even the option to book private tastings for your own group or party.
The Sweetwater Brewery facility also has a gift shop where you can buy their products and other beer-related products such as glassware and even beer taps. The shop is open from noon until 8pm so you take the brewery experience home with you.
