Georgia Trust-Historic Preservation in Atlanta, GA
The headquarters of the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation are housed within Rhodes Hall, a fully restored house museum in northwest Atlanta. The house has been made to look as it would when first built and tours of the museum are available every hour while the museum is open. There are two different tours available, one slightly more expensive than the other.
The Historical tour allows you to see the artifacts and exhibits on the first floor only however you will still see beautiful original woodwork, tiled fireplaces and many more architectural features. You will also learn the history of Rhodes Hall and that of its builder Amos Rhodes, and also what life was like in Atlanta during the early 1900s. The Behind the Scenes tour however allows you to explore all four floors of the house where you can visit the billiards room and the children's playroom in the tower among other sites. You can also enjoy the stained glass windows on the stairs and learn about the Georgia Trust for Historical Preservation, including the other sites and buildings that the Trust has successfully restored.
The Behind the Scenes tour can be combined with lunch on the terrace and bought as a package deal so that you can make the most of the day. Other attractions at the house include the extensive gardens which are open daily and the annual Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre, an event that provides great food, good wine and an evening of intrigue and that understandably sells out very quickly!
