Atlanta Things To Do

From fun in the sun to unique history lessons, and from arts and culture to today's most trendy styles, the city of Atlanta has it all. With a warm welcome of Southern hospitality and an endless list of things to do, Atlanta is a wonderful travel destination just waiting for visitors to fall in love with her traditional Southern charm and modern cosmopolitan flair. Some highlights for visitors to Atlanta include the High Museum of Art, the Buckhead area of town, Atlanta Beach Water Park, the area's many golf courses and historical sites like the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site and Atlanta History Center.

High Museum of Art
The top-notch collection of art featured at the High Museum of Art includes collections of European, American, African, contemporary, folk and decorative art, photography, and an array of special exhibitions. This is a great place to spend the afternoon gazing at masterpieces, or to bring the whole family for a cultural experience.

Buckhead
Often called the 'Beverly Hills of the East,' this section of town is an amazing amalgamation of eateries, lounges, clubs and upscale shopping. By day or by night, Buckhead is sure to please!

Atlanta Beach Water Park
For fun in the sand, sun and surf you don't have to go all the way to the coast! At Atlanta Beach Water Park, you'll enjoy 200 acres of fun, complete with a spring-filled water reservoir, water slides, sandy beaches and paddleboats, as well as picnicking, volleyball and softball.

Historic Sites
With roots in both the Civil War and the Civil Rights movement, Atlanta is rich in history. Stop by the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, a 4-block tribute to the man who brought about a revolution of non-violence. Operated by the National Park Service, this free-admission attraction includes a tour Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birth home and crypt as well as the Center for Non-Violent Social Change and Ebenezer Baptist Church. Stop by the visitor center for a map and touring advice. Another notable historic stop in Atlanta is the Atlanta History Center, located just five minutes from Buckhead, and featuring thorough exhibits on the Civil War and the Civil Rights movement, as well as Southern folk crafts and two historic homes. The 1928 Swan House is a mansion with a swan theme throughout, and the Tullie Smith Farm is another must-see.

Golf
Whether you're a beginner or a pro, Atlanta has a great golf experience waiting for you at its 41 public golf courses. The Marietta Golf Center features a great driving range with grass and 20 covered tees that are lit for night-time hitting, as well as short game areas like putting greens, chipping greens and sand bunkers. For a links-style course reminiscent of the British Isles, visit the Links Golf Club; this 18-hole course has quick greens and hilly fairways. One more of Atlanta's great golf courses is the Browns Mill Golf Club, in South Atlanta, with 4 lakes and a notoriously challenging 12th hole.

Whether your idea of the perfect vacation is to learn about art and history, to enjoy some outdoor activities, or to get out on the town at night, Atlanta has all of this and more! Ready to cater to your every need and hope, Atlanta is the city where vacation memories are made!
