The building the Wheeler/Stellard Museum occupies is every bit as historical as the many exhibits of Colorado history housed within. Jerome Wheeler built the house for his wife in 1888, but she refused to live in it. In 1905 the house was finally occupied by residents Edgar and Mary Stellard. In 1969 the house became the basis for the museum that still stands today.
Articles housed within the museum include a Knabe piano played by Albert Schweitzer at the 1949 Goethe convocation and 10th Mountain Division, amongst other historical insights into the Aspen area. During your next visit to the Aspen, explore the area's history with the beautiful architecture of the Wheeler/Stellard Museum and the amazing collection of memorabilia housed within.
