Located at 602 East Cooper Avenue, Galerie Maximillian is an internationally acclaimed dealer of Old Master, 19th and 20th Century paintings, sculptures and masterworks on paper. Although regarded by many as more of a museum where you can buy art, than an art gallery itself, Galerie Maximillian has nevertheless combined serious art with an air of candid unpretentiousness which makes even a novice feel at home.
Owner Albert Stanford's experience of over 27 years and his passion for art are reflected in the eclectic collection that the gallery houses. Challenging conventions, the gallery does not hesitate to juxtapose the work of a newcomer with a masterpiece by an established master which, in turn, brings a newfound depth to the collection. Although the predominant theme is Contemporary European Primitivism, you will also find the work of French Impressionists, Art Deco and Modern Masters on display. The Fine Art collection comprises of over a thousand works by greats like Rembrandt, Renoir and Picasso. The Fine Print Library is considered a valuable resource for novices as well as veteran art collectors. The gallery's enthusiastic and knowledgeable team of art consultants is dedicated to the cause of making the experience of collecting art, an entertaining and informative process.
The gallery also hosts exhibitions at regular intervals and details of these are regularly updated on the website. You will also find a brief synopsis of the artist whose works are currently on display along with an online portfolio showcasing some of their finest works. The gallery is open from Monday through Saturday from 10 am - 8 pm and from 11 am - 6 pm or by prior appointment on Sunday.
