The Crystal Palace Theatre restaurant, a legendary mélange of excellent food and hilarious cabaret style revue was established in 1957 and has been delighting patrons ever since. Conceived and developed by Mead Metcalf, the Crystal Palace Theatre Restaurant is the only one of its kind in Aspen, combining professional theatre with a gourmet dining experience, making this place a must visit for new visitors and seasoned patrons alike.
The Crystal Palace experience begins right when you enter the restaurant which is ornamented with beautiful chandeliers and stained glass. For dinner, you can choose from an array of delectable appetizers like Escargots Bourguignonne and Shiitake Mushroom wantons, followed by an assortment of entrees which range from Slow Roasted Prime Rib to Pan-Seared Loin of Elk. When it comes to desert, you can take your pick from sinful concoctions like the Fallen Chocolate Soufflé Torte or the wicked Fat Lady Hot Fudge Sundae. And it's only after your meal that the evening truly attains its peak. It's then that the waiters and waitresses drop their trays and belt out an elaborate recital of singing, dancing and skits which are constructed as a satire on current affairs, famous people and politics. Director / choreographer John Trow comes down from Minneapolis to direct the program at the start of every season while his wife Janet writes songs for Metcalf.
