Aspen Center for Environmental Studies in Aspen, CO
The Aspen Center for Environmental Studies is dedicated to educating the public about environmental responsibility and conservation. The center runs a number of programs for all age ranges throughout the year, many of which change from summer to winter.
For example, from December through to April you can enjoy daily tours of the Aspen Mountains where you will learn about the winter wildlife and their habitats, the ecology of the area, avalanches and much more. In addition, you can choose to take the tours on snowshoes or on skis; depending on how accomplished you are on skis. You can also hike to the Wapiti Wildlife center where you can enjoy a well earned rest and some stunning panoramic views.
Throughout the summer months there are a number of hikes and Sunset Mountain walks to participate in and for real enthusiasts there is a Naturalist summer school that lasts for a week and is open to adults and children alike. The Aspen Center for Environmental studies ensures that children are very well entertained and educated regardless of what activities they choose to take part in and throughout the summer they have the option of visiting the Hallam Lake Preserve or the Rock Bottom Ranch which is a wildlife preserve closely associated with the center.
The center is highly popular for vacationers in both summer and winter and there is always something to take part in regardless of which day of the year you visit on. In fact there is so much going on throughout the year that it is easy to visit the center on multiple occasions and never do the same thing twice.
