Constructed of over 10,000 rectangular panes of glass, the Crystal Cathedral was designed by world-famous architect Philip Johnson, and is indeed a marvel of modern architecture. Founded in 1955 by Rev. Dr. Robert H. Schuller, the cathedral is home to the Crystal Cathedral Ministries, a Christian megachurch which broadcasts its services around the world on the well-known television program, Hour of Power.
The church offers daily services and Christian gatherings, hosts support groups and Sunday school classes, and offers tours to visitors every weekday from 9am to 3pm. A very active events schedule includes concerts by worship bands and the volunteer orchestra, activities for children, study groups, travel opportunities, and fellowship gatherings.
