The Huntington Botanical Gardens are located just outside
Anaheim, California. First established in 1903, the complex now includes more than 120 acres of lawn, statuary, and benches to enjoy the view along with over 15,000 species of plants. A variety of special themed gardens delight visitors as they wind their way along the verdant paths. These include: the Chinese Garden, the Children's Garden, the Botanical Conservatory, Desert Garden, Herb Garden, Rose Garden, Shakespeare Garden, Camellia Garden, Japanese Garden, Australian Garden, Palm Garden, Jungle Garden, Lily Ponds, and Subtropical Garden. There is truly something to see here for anyone with an interest in a variety of plant life and beautiful landscaping.
The Rose Hills Foundation Conservatory could take up an entire day of visiting all by itself. It features various ecosystems which have been recreated. These include a Bog, a Cloud Forest, Rain Forest, and a Plant Lab with interactive exhibits. Children will especially enjoy the Plant Lab, where they can practice science skills while learning about various ecosystems and the plant life supported.
Visitors must pay an admission fee to enter the botanical gardens, however garden tours are included in the price. Tours are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and weekends of each week. There are numerous events the Huntington Botanical Gardens host throughout each month. The Gardens also feature specific and very unusual plants according to season.
