Housed in a half-scale replica of the White House as it appeared in 1917, the Hobby City Doll & Toy Museum is an interesting stop even without walking in the doors. But kids, collectors, and toy enthusiasts will definitely want to go inside, where they will find a fascinating journey through the history of dolls. The extensive collection includes more than six thousand dolls and toys exhibited in chronological order, from a 5000-year-old ancient Egyptian doll to modern-day troll dolls.
Dolls are grouped in decorative glass cases according to time and place of origin, and include rare European dolls and a beautiful display from ancient China. For the modernist, the Museum also showcases Barbie through the years, as well as pop culture dolls from Shirley Temple to Darth Vader. A fine collection of model trains, baseball cards, photos, and other memorabilia rounds out the exhibit.
