Take A Cruise On Anaheim's Queen Mary

What is over 1,000 feet long, weighs 81,237 tons, and has over 10 million rivets and 200 port holes? It's Anaheim's Queen Mary, a 20th century luxury liner located in Long Beach Harbor. Many people have at least heard of the Queen Mary, but did you know that she was built faster and longer than the infamous Titanic? There are a variety of ways to see the Queen Mary, from self-guided to guided tours, as well as staying in one of her 365 hotel staterooms or enjoying a delectable Champagne Sunday Brunch in the elegant dining room.

The Queen Mary - "A City At Sea"

The Queen Mary has been called a "city at sea" because within her hull, she contains hotel rooms, lobbies, corridors, ballrooms, restaurants and bars, kitchens, an indoor pool and even a jail and wedding chapel! Visitors can take self-guided tours to see the bridge, engine rooms and officers' quarters, or embark on a guided "Behind the Scenes" tour for access to lesser-seen nooks and crannies of the Queen Mary, including the Isolation Wards and the aft Machine Rooms. The guided tour also includes access to the nearby 300-foot Russian submarine, codename: Scorpion.

The Queen Mary Luxury Liner's History

Built in Clydebank, Scotland, the Queen Mary took her maiden voyage in 1936. From her first trip across the Atlantic up until 1967 when she came to rest in Long Beach Harbor, she made an astounding 1001 cross-Atlantic trips, her 12 decks bearing up to 1957 passengers. During World War II, the Queen Mary took on a patriotic, country-serving role as troopship, carrying soldiers to battle, and returning the wounded back home again. Between 1940 and 1946, the Queen Mary carried over 700,000 military personnel. She even carried Winston Churchill three times to conferences!

Special Events on the Queen Mary Luxury Liner

Throughout the year, the Queen Mary hosts several special events which add an even more lively air to the ship, including the Scottish Festival (February), the Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza (July), Shipwreck Halloween Terror Fest and Haunted Mazes (October), New Year's Eve Celebration (December), and the Tree Lighting Ceremony (December).

The Queen Mary is a can't-miss opportunity to learn some history and see an amazing vessel, right in Anaheim. So come on down to Long Beach Harbor and climb aboard for an unforgettable voyage, without ever leaving port!
