Short Getaway Ideas for Los Angeles


Taking a quick trip or only staying for the weekend? When you're visiting the Anaheim/Los Angeles area, there are some things that just cannot be missed. You'll want to plan your itinerary carefully to make sure you make the most of the time you have and that all of the hottest spots are hit. Make sure to make time for these activities and attractions.

For the Sightseer...

Los Angeles and Hollywood Tour. This nine-hour tour is a great way to spend a day. From city to sea, this tour shows you all. First you will see some of the area's awe-inspiring architecture and landmarks. Then you'll go to Manns Chinese Theatre where you can walk in the footsteps of your favorite celebrities. Next, it's a drive down Sunset Strip and over to Beverly Hills, where you'll see the sights of Rodeo Drive. You'll stop at Farmers Market for lunch and then it's off to Santa Monica and the breathtaking sights of Santa Monica Bay.

The Best of L.A. City Tour. Spend half of your day seeing the sights and excitement of the area. You'll start out this tour by seeing some of the most awe-inspiring and breathtaking architecture and landmarks in the area. Then you'll arrive at Manns Chinese Theatre where you can walk in the steps of your favorite famous celebrities. You'll tour Sunset Strip and head on over to Beverly Hills where you'll encounter some of the finest shopping in the world, on Rodeo Drive.

For the Shopper...

Tijuana, Mexico and Rosarito Beach Tour. This eleven-hour tour will take you across the frontier and into Baja, where you'll cruise 20 miles along the Mexican shoreline to Rosarito Beach, where you will see the historic Calafia Ocean Resort. Then shop like you've never shopped before in Tijuana. There you'll see displays of jewelry, perfume, blankets, leather goods and a variety of native crafts. Look closely, there are bargains to be had here!

Rodeo Drive. Welcome to the most upscale shopping district in the country. Everyone who's anyone has shopped here, and stars frequent the stores located along this elite path. This is one place the budget conscious dare not shop. The stretch is three blocks long and houses boutiques and shops of some of the most expensive designers in the world. You'll find names like Armani, Gucci, Christian Dior, Coco Chanel, Ralph Lauren, Cartier, Tiffany & Co. and more. The jewel of Rodeo Drive is Bijan, and it is the most expensive store in the world, and you have to make an appointment to shop there. You'll pay at least $50 for a pair of socks and a suit will set you back approximately $15,000. How much does the average customer spend on a day at Bijan? Try to the tune of $100,000. Rodeo Drive is also home to the most expensive restaurant in Southern California. Ginza Sushi Co is a 10-seat sushi bar and the food is flown in directly from Tokyo. The cost for such a delicacy? Approximately $200 per person. There is so much to see and do you can spend a full day here, but if you can't fit a full day into your tight schedule, make sure you stay for at least an hour or so.

For Everyone...

Sea World San Diego. This 190-acre park is a must-stop spot when you're visiting the area. You will love seeing the marine life, watching the shows and riding the rides. Sea World is home to sea lions, polar bears, beluga whales and more. While there visit exhibits like the Shamu Adventure, where you'll get up close and personal with the world-famous Shamu. You're sure to have the time of your life. You'll want to put aside at least half a day, if not a full day, to visit this attraction.

Manns Chinese Theatre. This is a great way to fill an hour or two of your itinerary. Located in Los Angeles, this is the most famous theatre in the world. Resembling a Chinese pagoda, the theatre has a Chinese dragon winding its way across the front and two dogs guarding the entrance. Take a walk through the theatre and see the footprints of the stars and learn about the history of the theatre and all of the premiers that have been shown there.

Universal Studios Hollywood. This is the world's largest studio and theme park. Here you can get an inside look at the sets and behind the scenes tours of some of your favorite movies. Then experience the breathtaking special effects of the studio tour and get transported into another world. While you're there you have to check out the new Shrek 4-D attraction. It's an event you will never forget. The Universal Studios Hollywood Tour takes 12 hours, so you'll fill an entire day with this attraction.
