Disneyland in Anaheim, CAThe inscription on the plaque in Town Square at Main Street, USA reads "Disneyland is your land." Here, age relives fond memories of the past and youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. This is your invitation to come and be a kid again, so bring your children and just be children with them. As you enter the park at Main Street USA, you'll have a hard time deciding which direction to go first. There are so many shops to explore; The Emporium sells everything Disney and then there's Mad Hatter's, where you can pick up your own set of mouse ears or a top hat for special occasions. Disney Showcase features merchandise from recent Disney films and shows, the Magic Shop will delight kids of all ages and tempt you to buy that gag gift that got you when you were young so you can pass on the fun, and don't forget to shop at Disneyana if you are a serious collector of Disney memorabilia. Main Street will give you an idea of what life was like in at the turn of the 20th century before things started moving so fast. Once you get past Main Street, you'll have so many choices of things to see and do and eat during your visit to Disneyland that figuring out where to start will be the big dilemma of the day. There is Adventure Land with a Jungle Cruise and Bengal Barbecue, where you can pick up a snack. You will find all the shops for this area under one roof. Buy trinkets from the Far East at Adventureland Bazaar, the famous fedora of Indiana Jones at the Indiana Jones Outpost or something for the beach at the South Sea Traders. Frontierland has Big Thunder Railroad, The Columbia and Mark Twain boat rides and for the small ones, they can explore Tom Sawyers Island. Fantasmic is a show in this area that you will not want to miss -- lots of action, lights and sounds. New Orleans Square in Disneyland New Orleans Square is home to two of Disneyland's most popular attractions, the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and the Haunted Mansion. New Orleans Square only covers three acres and provides a pleasurable mix of design and entertainment while staying in theme with restaurants named the Blue Bayou, the French Market and Cafe Orleans. Critter Country features over 20 Audio-Animatronic characters that perform a great country show. You will find Splash Mountain here and yes, you will get wet if you sit in the front, so be prepared, or take a ride with The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh in you own honeycomb/beehive. Fantasy Land in Disneyland Fantasy Land will take you back to your childhood as you ride King Arthur's Carousel complete with fully restored white jeweled horses. Snow White's Scary Adventure will take you through the Dwarf's diamond mine and Pinocchio's Daring Journey will give you some respite from the day's heat as you watch Pinocchio go through his trials to become a real boy. Spin endlessly at the Mad Tea Party or go down the rabbit hole on the Alice in Wonderland Ride, and one cannot leave Fantasy Land until you have taken a ride on "It's a Small World." Tommorowland in Disneyland Tomorrowland still has Space Mountain, which is a must ride, as well as many other rides to take you into the future since being updated in 1998. And Mickey now has his own town called Mickey's Toontown. The kids will delight in this part of the park where there are no straight lines and you might find a mailbox that will talk to you. This is like walking into a live cartoon that will keep your whole family laughing, as the fun never ends. Hotels Near Disneyland If you are traveling in a large group, Best Western Park Place Inn-Mini Suites will offer you open quarters for a reasonable price and is conveniently located across the street from Disneyland's main entrance. With a complimentary continental breakfast and free parking that will be one more souvenir that you will be able to buy at the park. Comfort Inn and Suites provides a complimentary shuttle to the theme park. Comfort Inn and Suites West is just a short drive to Disneyland and provides you with a complimentary breakfast. Best Western Raffles Inn and Suites provides you with beautiful rooms that are within a fifteen-mile radius of many attractions. So pack up the family and get ready for adventures that will take you back in time to when you were a kid and share some wonderful memories as you watch you children react to all of the spectacular sites of Disneyland. |
