Nappanee Weather Information

In Nappanee, the theme is "Embrace the Pace" -- and the weather in this small Indiana town allows visitors to do just that! Whether seeking a peaceful getaway along quiet country byways, or looking to stir up some excitement at the many local events and festivals, Nappanee has it all. In fact, TIME Magazine dubbed Nappanee one of America's "Top 10 Scenic Small Towns."

Fall in Nappanee is a beautiful time of year, so it's no wonder this is also the time of year for the town's famously fun Nappanee Apple Festival. Autumn is also the perfect time of the year to enjoy a daytrip along the Heritage Trail, know as one of the country's best scenic drives. In September and October, daytime highs are in the mid 60s to mid 70s, and overnight lows are in the mid 40s to mid 50s. By November, the days begin to grow shorter, and daytime highs hover in the 50s with overnight lows in the mid 30s. October and November are two of the driest months of the year, however, making outdoor activities especially easy to plan and enjoy.

Winter brings to Nappanee cooler temperatures, with January being the coldest month of the year. Highs during the winter are in the low to mid 30s; lows range from 17 to 23 degrees. Wintertime visitors will want to pack a full array of warm clothing, including socks, coats, scarves, hats and gloves or mittens. Winter time in Nappanee is a great time of year to enjoy the many local shops, furniture crafters and old fashioned quilters. Visit the town's many antique stores looking for some unique treasures, and then stop into a small local bakery for a sweet treat.

Nappanee's springs warm up nicely, with April and May being extremely pleasant months. April's daytime highs are in the low 60s, and May offers highs in the 70s. Spring visitors will need short-sleeved shirts for warm afternoons, and also long pants and a few sweaters for mornings and evenings. Be sure to bring a warm coat and gloves, too, for evening outings, as lows can fall into the upper 20s in March, and April and May can be in the 30s or 40s overnight. A popular spring activity is to visit the Amish cultural center to see finely crafted goods and to learn about Amish customs and way of life.

Summer visitors will delight in the warm air of June, July and August, when highs are in the low to mid 80s. Nights remain in the upper 50s and low 60s, providing cool, refreshing air at the end of a warm summer day. July is the warmest month, and June is the rainiest month in Nappanee. Summer visitors will want to bring plenty of shorts, short-sleeved shirts, and tank tops, as well as a pair of pants or jeans and a few long-sleeved shirts and a light jacket. Don't forget an umbrella and water resistant shoes for the occasional summer thundershower!
