The Sunshine Theatre started life as a classic movie theatre however today it is a popular bustling music club that hosts a large number of local, national and international music acts throughout the year. The original seats have been replaced with funky tables and chairs and a large dance floor occupies the centre of the theatre. The main bar sells a variety of alcoholic drinks including beer and spirits however the availability of particular drinks change from week to week and so it may be a case of get what you can! The bar in the main arena is also quite small and the wait for a drink can drag on so you may want to buy multiple drinks in one visit.
If you need a break from the live music then you can always move into the Moonlight Lounge which is located within the Sunshine Theatre but which has a calmer atmosphere and is often not as crowded as the main floor. It is often easier to get served here and on some occasions you may find a DJ instead of live acts. The Sunshine Theatre focuses on pop, alternative rock and punk music so if this isn't your thing then you may want to try elsewhere.
The Theatre also has a Balcony Bar which is exclusive to the over-21s. It doesn't offer a huge range of drinks but it is easier to get served here. The opening times of both the Sunshine Theatre and the Moonlight Lounge vary according to the acts that are playing although most concerts start at 7pm.
