New Mexico Museum of Natural in Albuquerque, NM
The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science offers a full day out for the whole family. Open 9am to 5pm every day the museum houses a number of permanent features including 8 related exhibits that take visitors on an interactive journey through time from the formation of the Universe up to the present day, the details of which focus on the New Mexico area. You can read and learn about the origins of life, dinosaurs, volcanoes, the grasslands, cave life, fossils and the Ice age and how these features affected the area of New Mexico. Other exhibits in the museum include Computer Revolution, Mars Exploration, the Naturalist Center and Fossil World plus a number of temporary exhibits that change during the year.
As well as the museum exhibits, there is also a very popular planetarium and the Dynatheater. The planetarium allows you to experience space travel while learning about the latest technologies that are helping space exploration. You can lean about the constellations, the Solar System, the Universe and celestial events through state of the art digital 3D animation which gives the impression you are actually traveling in space. The Dynatheater shows educational films throughout the year that allow youngsters to learn about history and the world in general.
The lobby of the museum houses the Natureworks store where you can buy a wide range of mementoes and gifts related to the exhibits including books, posters, educational toys, dinosaur models, clothing and even real fossils meaning you can take more than just memories home with you.
