The Mystery Café is located within the Sheraton Uptown Hotel and is Albuquerque's first interactive dining experience. The café blends a murder mystery play with a four course meal to provide you with a unique evening out. The Mystery Café only performs on Friday and Saturday evenings and reservations are always necessary.
The menu includes soup of the day followed by salad and a choice of main meals, including a vegetarian option. Dessert is home made apple pie and the meal is finished with a tea or coffee of your choice. You can also enjoy a number of cocktails with your meal should you prefer. The performance starts at 7.30pm and during the evening one of the cast invariably gets murdered, then it is your job along with the rest of the audience to solve the mystery and name the murderer. If you get the answer correct you can even win a prize.
The novel aspect of the Mystery Café is that the performance takes place in and around the dining room and not on a stage. This allows for ultimate interaction between the actors and the audience and diners are encouraged to join in and change the plot as they see fit. Surprisingly the actors also double as the waiters for the evening and the separate courses of the meal are served in between the scenes of the play. This means you can ponder over the murder mystery while eating before the next bit of the plot is revealed. The theme of the café is fun and laughter and everyone who dines there is sure of an interesting evening out.
