The Extreme Screen Dynatheater is located within the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science and first opened its doors to the public in 1999. The actual screen measures an amazing 65 feet in width and 49 feet in height making it the largest movie screen in New Mexico and the stadium-style auditorium seats an impressive 284 people. The projection system behind the scenes uses advanced technologies and so the images that visitors see are far superior to those seen in many normal movie theaters. The sound quality is also vastly superior and the surround sound gives you the impression of being in the film.
Entrance to the Dynatheater costs around $6 however if you buy a ticket to the Natural History Museum for $10 you get entrance to the theater thrown in and many people spend the morning exploring the museum before relaxing and watching one of the films being shown at the time. The Theater normally shows two films each day for a number of months before changing them and each film, while being mildly educational, is also exciting to watch. Tickets are on sale until 10 minutes before the film shows however the theater is a popular attraction and some films constantly sell out quickly.
For example, the 'Mystery of the Nile' film which begins its run at the end of September depicts a 114 day trek along the 3000 mile river while 'Greece: Secrets of the Past' uses state of the art technology to take viewers back in time to uncover the hidden secrets of ancient Greece's culture.
