Looking For Acapulco, Mexico Weather Information?Acapulco, or Acapulco de Juárez, is a city located in Guerrero, which lies on the Pacific coast of Mexico. Acapulco is known for being a port of cruise ships and shipping boats, and for being a tourist attraction larger than Chilpancingo or any other city in Mexico. Acapulco is also known for having a tropical climate with a warm to hot temperature, generally all year round. However, this is not to say that weather is constant. There are both hot seasons and dry seasons to report. For example, in months where there is high sun, namely when the Northern Hemisphere summer arrives, rain is more concentrated during that time. In contrast, when there is a period of low-sun (when the Northern Hemisphere winter moves in) precipitation is not as prevalent and so the weather is sunny and dry. If you stay near the mountains then you may also get a nice, comfortable breeze. Acapulco was built on very low ground, which measures barely half a mile wide and is surrounded by shoreline and mountains. If the breeze from the ocean doesn't cool you off then maybe the Abra de San Nicolas (what you call the passage for access through the mountains) will generously blow. No matter though... if you want to avoid the heat in Acapulco then you can. There are steps you can take to beat the heat and overcome all predictable weather nuisances. The first step is to know what is "dry season" and what is "rainy season." The dry season, which is technically the winter, lasts from November to April. The general temperature here is late 80's to early 90's with only moderate humidity. If you walk around at night during these dry months you will feel the difference. The rainy season takes place between May to October and though the temperature only slight increases, the humidity drastically goes up and it may rain a few times a week. What kind of clothes and necessities should you pack for a trip to Acapulco? Obviously, short sleeve shirts and shorts are the only option in the day time unless you really want to be uncomfortable! By the time night draws, it would be okay to wear slacks or jeans, provided they are light. If you're planning to have fun on the beach, then there's no sense in overdressing. A bathing suit is the only comfortable option, especially when the sun is shining! Socks and underwear under the bathing suit are optional, and in some beaches even the suit is optional. (Just makes sure you know the policy before you start stripping in a hotel!) If you're talking on the beach then opt for sandals to avoid dirty socks, but at night nice dress or teddy shoes will suffice. Other optional items you might think about including in your luggage would be an umbrella for both the rain and the sun. Acapulco is warm — a tropical paradise. But it's not as unbearably hot as you may have heard. Using a little foresight, you can prepare for the heat and rain and fully enjoy your Acapulco vacation. |
